Privacy & Cookie Notice

This notice covers the CompassDocs websites — compassdocs.io and docs.compassdocs.io — and explains what data they collect, which cookies they use, and the choices you have. It does not cover a CompassDocs installation: the app is self-hosted, your data stays on your servers, and the software itself sends no analytics to us.

What we collect on these sites

With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the sites are used — pages visited, approximate region, browser and device type, and how visitors arrive. This helps us improve the product and the documentation. We do not run ads, we do not sell data, and we do not use analytics for advertising personalization (those consent signals are permanently set to “denied”).

Analytics is off by default. Nothing is measured and no analytics cookies are set until you click Accept in the cookie banner. If you decline, the sites work exactly the same — we just don't measure your visit.

Analytics data is processed by Google LLC on our behalf. See Google's privacy policy and cookie documentation for details on their processing.

Your choices

Accept or decline in the banner that appears on your first visit.
Change your mind any time — click Cookie preferences (also in the footer of every page). Declining after a previous Accept stops measurement and removes the analytics cookies we set.
Browser controls — you can block or delete cookies in your browser, or use Google's opt-out browser add-on.

Other data

Email — if you email us (for example about Enterprise licensing), we use your address only to reply and to fulfil what you asked for.
Purchases — Enterprise license purchases are processed by Stripe; payment details go to Stripe, not to us. We keep the billing contact needed to issue and support your license.
Hosting — these sites are served by Cloudflare, which processes IP addresses transiently to deliver and protect the sites (standard server behavior).

The CompassDocs application

A CompassDocs installation you or your company runs is under your control. The app sets only the cookies it needs to function (your sign-in session and preferences like theme and sidebar state), stores its data in your database, and includes no third-party trackers. Any optional analytics inside the app measure usage of your knowledge base, for your admins, on your infrastructure.

Changes and contact
